Your current weighted grade from category scores - or flip it around and find out exactly what the final exam has to be. Including the honest answer when the target isn’t reachable.
Most courses don't average everything equally - homework might be 20% of your grade while the final is 30%. Your overall grade is each category's score times its weight, added up: score × weight for every category, then summed. If your weights don't add to 100%, this tool tells you rather than silently normalizing, because a missing 15% usually means there's a category you forgot - and that category will move your grade.
The final-exam question rearranges the same weighted average. If the final is worth w (as a fraction) and everything before it averaged current, then to land exactly on target: needed = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w. With an 88% going in, a 30%-weight final, and a 90% target: (90 − 88×0.70) ÷ 0.30 = 94.67%. This tool gives the honest version of the answer - including telling you plainly when the target is mathematically out of reach (needing over 100%) or already locked in (needing 0%).
Cutoffs for letter grades vary by school - one institution's A− starts at 90%, another's at 92%. That's why this tool works in percentages and leaves the letter to your syllabus. If your course grades on the 4.0 scale instead, the GPA calculator handles that - weighted and unweighted.
